Sivan Rubin - Good Morning Edward

It's always been normal to start the school year feeling like it's still the middle of summer, but there was always the reassurance that after Sukkot things will start to cool down, making way for sweaters and raincoats. My sweaters are still waiting to be worn and while it's kind of good news for tourists visiting from colder climates (granted they don't fall on an icky and hazy day like today), it's disorienting. It took me a moment to remember that not all schools over the world have security guards, but that's not what made this an unsettling (though very beautiful) song for me.

It's the end of the summer
And there's no foliage yet
A strange morning
Sneaks into my window and asks
What's next
Where will you go

I say it's not certain yet
There are some unmarked directions
Like a child, he wants to know
Everything now

The end of the summer in another week
Sandals on the way to class
Large backpacks
Out of them, small legs
A convoy

They know where to go
The green gate
Good morning Edward, good morning girl
A dream of a moment
I'm back, everything now

I say it's not certain yet
There are some marked directions
Like a child, he wants to know
Everything now

End of the summer
And there's no foliage yet
